How do I make an appointment with Dr Ainsworth?
To see Dr Ainsworth in our Private Rooms you will need to be in a Private Health Fund as we are a private practice only.
Please email your referral to admin@hunterurology.com.au
To assist us in streamlining your initial visit to our Practice please email the following along with your referral:
Your Private Health Fund and membership number
Any related imaging reports
Blood or urine test results
Once we have received your referral, we will contact you to arrange an appointment.
You will receive an email confirmation with all details of your appointment.
On the day of your appointment, please ensure you bring with you:
Medicare card and Private Health Fund card
DVA card if applicable
Why do I need a referral?
If you do not have a current referral for your visit, you will not be able to claim the Medicare rebate. Your GP will provide you with a referral on request, this is valid for twelve months. Please email your referral to admin@hunterurology.com.au prior to your appointment or your GP can send to us directly via Medical Objects or email.
What will the cost be for my visit?
Initial consultation is $250. You will receive the associated Medicare rebate if you have a current referral.
Please call our office for any queries regarding costs for subsequent visits or any procedures.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?
You will receive an SMS reminder one week before your appointment.
If you need to reschedule, please phone our office on 4969 7044 as soon as possible.
We require a minimum of 48 hours notice to cancel or reschedule your appointment to avoid a cancellation fee.
Please note, sometimes Dr Ainsworth is running late due to circumstances beyond our control. We appreciate your understanding.
Can I see Dr Ainsworth if I am not in a Private Health Fund?
All uninsured patients are welcome to be reviewed by Dr Ainsworth at the John Hunter Hospital Urology Outpatient Clinic.
Your GP will refer you directly to the Outpatient Clinic.
Referrals are triaged according to urgency by the John Hunter Hospital. Waiting times vary according to clinical urgency and appointment availability.
Questions regarding public appointments or waiting periods should be directed to the John Hunter Hospital Referral Management Centre on 4922 3912.
